Tributes Pour in as Johnny Clegg dies

Tributes to the late legendary Johnny Clegg have started pouring in after the news of his death broke last night.

Clegg, 66, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015.

He his famous for songs such as “The crossing”, “Scatterlings of Africa” and many more.

He is also known as the ‘White Zulu’ as he co-founded Juluka and Savuka.

Minster of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa tweeted “Our hearts are sore” and also posted two videos from the musician.

Clegg learnt isiZulu while growing up, taught by a Domestic worker and also learnt to play the maskandi guitar.

His son, Jesse Clegg has also shared a picture with his father with “Hamba kahle dad. Love you always.” as a caption on Twitter.

“Thank you for the magical gifts you have given us and providing a special place in your life for your family. You have inspired both me as a musician and as a man, and given men the tools to live a meaningful life.” wrote Clegg.

“I will miss you deeply and I struggle to imagine a world without you” added Clegg.

Other celebrities also sent their love on social media and also shared their fondest memory of the legend!

His family has asked for privacy during this time and posted a link where people can donate to the Click Foundation. This link can be found on Twitter.
