Thousands of students held the long queues at the DUT- Ritson Campus upon the early hours of 7am to apply for various courses of their choice.

Luxolo Madikizela, from Port Shepstone says he chose to come and apply at Durban University of Technology because it is the only university he knows of.
“I have been in the line since 7:30am and I am interested in Information Technology as my passion lies with computers and I feel this is where I will be comfortable and strive in. If I get accepted I will apply for NSFAS and if I don’t get it I do have plan B which is get funding from my mother’s company. If I am not accepted for IT I will be sad, because I had applied via CAO form and never got a response but I would have no choice but to go and look for other university or college”, said Madikizela.
Nomcebo Nxumalo, from Nquthu says she is happy to have finally completed her matric but she is also scared of the unfamiliar environment she has to adapt to.
“I chose to apply at DUT because I love this university and also qualify to study here. I’m applying for Bachelor of Social Science in environment and I passed geography with flying colours.

According to DUT officials  all 7000 student posts have been filled, however there could be a few opportunities available if certain accepted students don’t register with the university in time or choose to go elsewhere.
