THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS UP – AGAIN!

Twitter is buzzing with panic after Stas SA reveals the highest employment rate in recent years.

In 2003, the unemployment rate was at its highest at 29.3% which is just 0.3% higher than the current rate.

Figures show that 6.7 million people are now unemployed in South Africa.

More females are unemployed than males as the figures show that 31.3% of South African women are without work as opposed to 27.2% of men.

According to the report, trade services and industries show more employment while private households show biggest declines.

In terms of provinces, the Eastern Cape leads with the biggest unemployment rate of 35,4 % while the North West shows the highest expand of unemployment rate with 46,6 %.

However there has been an increase of 455 000 in the number of people who are unemployed and an increase of 21 000 in employment.

Twitter users reacted using #Unemployment which trended at number one for the majority of the day.


Basically, this means that almost 3 in 10 people are unemployed in South Africa. What do you have to say?
