Sizwe Nxasana has resigned as chairperson and member of the board of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NFSAS).
The businessman admitted in a statement that the last few years at NFSAS have been extremely challenging.
He said funding obligations have increased, placing strain on systems and processes.
“While the last few years have been extremely challenging, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to immerse myself in education and contribute to finding sustainable solutions for the higher education sector. I am passionate about helping our youth access education and want to recognise the many thousands of students whose success inspire all of us and give us hope for the future,” he said.

Tweeps however weren’t taking his resignation lying down, as they claimed black professionals like himself are the problem when it comes to uplifting their African counterparts;
I do not believe Sizwe Nxasana resigned from NSFAS because he can't manage payment system. I mean the guy used to run a bank that has budget of billions of rands. Political interference made him resign. Students are made to suffer because of politics.

The likes of Sizwe Nxasana who has quit as chief of NFSAS are what is wrong with many ' highly ' educated blacks in positions of power. They don't care about plight of Africans. When they occupy these positions their man concern is securing cushy pensions for themselves.

Sizwe Nxasana commercialised education through NSFAS. Ensured his buddies in financial sector gave student loans instead of free education. He's now resigned. NSFAS is in a mess & he isnt about to sink with that ship. The time is now for an African centred government
