Family Tree denies 56 Million funding

Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous media articles and speculations surrounding some of the Durban events this festive season and the support and/or lack of support from certain organisations.

To clear the air, yesterday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, various organisations and event organisers held a press conference following the rumours that Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up Moses Mabhida has been sponsored by the eThekwini Municipality with an amount of 56 Million.

Cassper whose real name is Refiloe Phoolo said he understands that they have to be accountable because they cannot just come to Durban and not do what is required.

There was speculations that some members of the infamous, amaDelangokubona Business Forum (DBF) were removing Fill Up Moses Mabhida’s posters.

DBF is a platform that was created for SMMEs and Co-operatives in South Africa so as to build partnerships amongst all sectors of the community and ensuring that all stakeholders act in unison for the common good of the residents of South Africa.

However, the leader of DBF Nathi Mnyandu denied the allegations saying they support events that are organised by black people as long as the community benefits from them.

“We sat down with the municipality and realised that the event is good for the city’s economy. We support the event but all we want is a small portion of the profit.” Mnyandu said.

Afrotainment’s Dj Tira said he supports every event that seeks to boost the city’s economy and draws more visitors.
