Cardi B makes female rap history.

Cardi B has risen to number one on Billboard Hot 100!

‘Bodak Yellow’ knocks Taylor Swift from the number one spot on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’. Cardi B has made history by being the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart, I am certain some of you didn’t see this coming but let us explain.

She is the first female artist to top the chart unaccompanied by any other credited artist.  The former Love and Hip Hop reality star is now the first solo female rapper to reach this height since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” debuted at No. 1 in 1998, almost 20 years ago.

Cardi B’s debut hit, ‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)’, managed to rise from number two to number one, beating Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.

‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)’ is also the highest charting single by any female rapper in 2017, and is sitting at number one on Billboard’s ‘Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs’ and ‘Hot Rap Song’ charts.

According to the VOX, Billboard calculates its Hot 100 rankings comes down to Nielsen’s measurements of streaming plays, sales, and crucially, radio play. “Bodak Yellow” exploded in all three areas almost immediately.

Peep the music video, it has been viewed over 179-million times.
