BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SEMINAR A SUCCESS

The Student Representative Council at Durban University of Technology organized a Business and Entrepreneurship seminar that was held yesterday at the Arthur Smith Hall (City Campus).
Sbusiso Sheshani who spoke on behalf of the ward councilor Ntando Khuzwayo said that the aim of the seminar was to empower and tackling issues such as poverty, unemployment and inequity amongst the youth.
“We want young people to be job creators and not job seekers,” said Sheshani.
Zamanguni Myeni, Business Support Officer at Invotech which is a business incubator that funds innovative business ideas, was also there to encourage the youth and to tell them about the channels that are there to assist develop business ideas that they might have.
Nikiwe Mkhonza of the National Youth Development Agency also known as NYDA took the stand and briefly discussed the services that are offered by their organization and how the youth can get access to them.
Sandile Shezi, South Africa’s Youngest Multimillionaire and owner of the Global Forex Institute gave out motivation to the students and pressed on the matter of utilizing their time in a proper manner, he spoke briefly of his upbringing, he grew up in KwaZulu-Natal in a township called Umlazi, he started out selling muffins and clothes that’s how he made his first income.
“You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great” said Shezi.
Sibusiso Leope, motivational speaker, radio/TV personality, writer and entrepreneur finally took a stand and acknowledged the Institute, DUT SRC and the campus radio station. He also mentioned that he grew up as an ordinary young boy in the dusty streets of Thembisa, however what set him up from the rest was that he had a vision and people called him crazy but he had a bigger picture.
DJ Sbu further went on to share his experiences on how to start a business and challenges that he faced to a point where people were shutting doors on his face and he was called controversial. However he soldiered on to where he is today with two books under his belt the latest Billionaires under construction and the project of his online radio station MassivMetro launched on the 3rd of April 2017.
In closing, Zama Mncube, SRC President gave a vote of thanks to the speakers as well as the people who attended and made the seminar a success.
